What is DWR?

The acronym DWR stands for ‘Durable Water Repellent’. This polymer coating is applied to all
MUSTO waterproof products and many of our mid-layers to provide an extra layer of protection
when you need it most. As the name suggests, DWR repels water and causes water to bead on a
garment’s surface, making it run off rather than soaking into the fabric. This maintains the
breathability of the garment, as waterlogged fabric prevents moisture escaping so easily.

Wear and tear, salt, dirt or repeated washing can wear off the DWR treatment. However, you can
reapply it as your garment ages. Find out more on our Product Care page.
